Easy repair with this kit July 27, 2010 Joseph M. Zawodny (Poquoson, VA USA) The gear at the top of the drive shaft on my old garage door opener sheared off after 15 years. This kit repaired to to like new. I learned a few things along the way worth passing on. The instructions were great - complete and detailed. I was able to replace the drive shaft assembly without the need to fully disassemble the unit. Replacement can be done in place without needing to remove the opener from where it is installed. When getting ready to replace the drive shaft assembly, drive the self tapping screws into the mounting flange before you install it. The threads are hard to cut and tapping the threads on the work bench is much easier that doing it while on a step ladder.
Sears Craftsman Liftmaster Gear & Sprocket Assembly Kit July 26, 2010 Elvira S Marez I was quoted $120-$150 to fix the broken sprocket. Ordered this kit and knew nothing about garage door openers. It came fast and the instructions were fairly easy to follow. My garage door opener was fixed in less than an hour. Its been working ever since.
life extender July 18, 2010 Jellybean These parts worked well and were not too difficult to install with help from the Liftmaster repair video found online. Hopefully the garage door opener will last another 20 years now.
Saved $$ and extended the life of my opener July 12, 2010 fixitguy After installing, my garage door works like a charm. Saved lots of money and avoided dumping a working motor in the landfill. Pay close attention to getting the the motor cycle rotated in the right direction before you reinstall the chain. If your mechanically minded, the installation should take less than 2 hours. If not, plan on 3 or 4 hours.
Easy installation June 25, 2010 Living the Dilbert life (Boise, ID United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading the other reviews, I expected great difficulty in installing this item. Since my top gear broke, some of the little pieces did not need replacement so I had the main gear changed out in about 30 minutes.
