Liftmaster Gear & Sprocket Assembly July 18, 2010 Sabrina Liftmaster Gear & Sprocket Assembly Kit was exactly as others posted. Took husband an hour to install. Easy to do if you're somewhat mechanically inclined. Cheaper than new garage opener.
Couldn't have been happier July 10, 2010 J. R. Montgomery Looked around at different websites for this common garage door opener repair part. Don't know how many times I have to remind myself to "just lube the track, chain and gears occassionally stupid!!!" and you wouldn't have to do this so often. Anyway, found the replacement parts at a good price from Sanford and Sons and installation was a snap. Took less than an hour to make my wife a happy lady again. We forget how very useful a garage door opener is until it goes on the fritz. I would recommend this fix to anyone with even minimal mechanical knowledge and who has one of our common chain driven openers --Sears, Liftmaster, Chamberlain, etc. The sprocket and gear assemblies are easy to install and even after totally neglecting them for another two or three years they still continue to work. It's all good now but the sad part is that is was only through my total neglect that it decided to fail in the first place.... Heck!!!! With a little care they seem to last forever. Good luck on your installation.

Garage Door Opener Gear June 13, 2010 H. Nelson (Bay Area, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Product was as stated, was relatively easy to install, and the garage door opener is as good as new.
its alive April 27, 2010 Brian Davis 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Can't believe my garage door opener lasted as long as it did. Then it broke. This fixed back to near new. What can I say --- it's alive again.
Even a mechanically inclined female can do this!! January 17, 2010 R. Brasher (Cordova, TN) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you press your opener button and can hear the motor running, but nothing happens... you've probably worn out your plastic gear. Another sign will be removing the cover and seeing a large pile of snow inside. These are the plastic shavings from the gear.
It took me a little bit longer than the previous reviewer... about 2 hours total. I did not, however, replace the worm drive as I could see nothing wrong with the existing one and honestly, didn't have all the necessary tools to do so.
I simply propped the carriage bar up, removed the opener assembly altogether, followed all [excellent] instructions pertaining to the replacement of the gear assembly, then reinstalled. It works wonderfully. I actually ordered much more than I needed, but I still ended up saving about $150 by doing it myself.
I am a somewhat mechanically inclined female... 43 yrs old and out of shape(smile). Even I could fix it myself!
