Worked Perfectly July 14, 2010 Roberto Reyes (San Dimas, Ca United States) I bought this after buying a genie at Lowes that didn't work with my garage door. This one worked perfectly with the garage door and it was simple to set up and install.
Excellent Outdoor Keypad Garage Door Access Point July 7, 2010 IndianaJames (Plymouth, IN USA) After reviewing the excellent instructions, I was very impressed by the large number of garage door openers for which it is compatible. The instructions for setup were very easy with my 1994 Sears Craftsman Garage Door Opener. Very happy with this purchase and the ultimate in convenience to keep my garage secure without having to carry a remote on me when going for a run or walk. Arrived when promised exactly as described.
Works, but disappointed June 25, 2010 Ski Doc (Wilson,WY United States) This item works, but I'm disappointed for several reasons. It only stores a single code, so you can't use it to operate multiple doors (unless you code all your doors to the single remote). No capability to store temporary codes for workers/etc. The lid slides open, but the edges of the lid rub on the surface it is mounted to. It will end up leaving a mark on the wall. Haven't decided yet if I'm going to return it. I'm going to live with it a couple of more days and see if I can get used to it.
Great for older garage doors June 17, 2010 Editor in NJ I have an old (~25 years) Sears garage door opener (139.53300) that has 9 dip-switches. I recently decided that I wanted a wireless keyless entry for the garage and found this Liftmaster 387LM on Amazon. I am absolutely amazed that it works with my old garage door opener, but it does!
This was a new install and it was very simple; the directions are easy to follow and very accurate. The only thing required involved changing the first dip-switch on the actual opener to the "-" position. Extremely easy and I didn't have to touch any of the other dip-switches (I also had to change the dip-switches on my remotes, but the dip-switches are easy to access and that only took a couple of minutes). The whole thing was set up and installed within 30 minutes and as I said, this was a new install!
It worked perfectly the first time I set it up. Two suggestions: I changed the 9v battery that came with the unit to a name-brand battery and I sprayed some WD-40 along the cover-track of the unit. The unit came with a 9v battery that was already plugged in and was some brand that I had never heard of before. I don't want to have to change the battery too soon, so I switched it for a new brand-name battery. The cover for the unit slides up and down rather than opening with a hinge. The door didn't slide up and down easily so I sprayed a little WD-40 into the track on the actual unit, slid the door up and down a few times, and now it opens and closes easily.
Minor issues when weighed against the convenience of having a wireless keyless pad that works with my very old garage door opener.
Nice keypad, but did not work for me. June 6, 2010 DC in DC I bought this for a Wayne Dalton 3212 (303 mhz) garage door. It did not work even though the instructions say that it is compatible with Wayne Dalton garage door openers made after 1999 (mine says 2002 as the production date. The reason I gave it a good rating is because of all the other folks that have had it work for them. Set up looks like it would have been very easy and if it would have worked my 2 main gripes would have been that it only controls 1 garage door, and that the "0" button is also the "enter" button. So, looks pretty good, worked for others, setup looks easy, price is right but does not work on all Wayne Dalton garage doors (especially the 3212) even though the instructions and this description say that it does.
