watch those batteries June 15, 2010 J.S. Banks (Mountain View, CA) If it stops working, change the battery. My unit was probably sitting around in a hot warehouse too long. It worked for a few cycles and then just couldn't pick up a signal from the sending unit, even when six feet away. Receiver plugs in, but the sender, mounted on the garage door, uses a CR2032 battery. Finally the lightbulb went off, I changed the battery, and it has been working fine. Can't speak about the range, because only one wall and ten feet separate the pair.
Chamberlain Garage Door Add-on Sensor June 2, 2010 Larry Petersen I purchased this add-on sensor so I'd know my 2nd garage door was closed when I'm upstairs getting ready for bed. It works great. I've not had an occurance of it not working correctly (and I've checked it several times). I highly recommend this sensor. Just be aware this is a remote sensor and for it to work you must also have the plug in receiving unit for inside the house.
Problem May 8, 2010 D. Tindall Product worked OK when received but started intermitently failing after less than a month. After going through the erasing and re-learning process several times, just to have the monitor mis-signal after 15 or 20 seconds, I finally figured out one of the batteries was bad. Since we had been away for two weeks of the one month we had owned the monitor, I have no idea how long the battery actually lasted. Pain in the neck. It's a Sony battery if anyone keeps track of such things.
Did anyone at Chamberlain even test these devices? January 30, 2010 K. Leitman (NE USA) I bought the pickup unit with sensor and an extra sensor in one shot. This device gets confused all the time with two sensors, and sometimes the signal does not get picked up at all, from even a few feet away. I've never had a wireless device that was so useless. I think I'll just buy a few roller switches and hardwire a doorbell/LED to them.
Just too bad I waited so long to test this out before I found out how they worked.
great product November 1, 2009 Joe Gibbs Bought this to keep track of my two car garage doors from in the house... works great.. I'm about 15 feet from the doors with the receiver... couple of times the receiver lost the signal..I moved the item a few feet and it works great... a couple of times its warned me "doors open".. when I thought they were closed.. glad I bought it... bought the extra sensor along with the monitor pack.. would recommend.
