Got the job done March 6, 2010 W. ROTH (USA) This was exactly what I needed to repair my Chamberlain garage door (model 550). It does take a couple hours to fix and make sure you have the tools required. Working like a charm today!
Excellent Seller! March 1, 2010 Steve Great product - saved me a ton of money. Easy fix - try this yourself!
Like New Again February 27, 2010 Tom (Susanville, CA USA) The main drive gear wore out in my Liftmaster after 10 years of daily use. I used most of the parts that came with this kit. Everything fit perfectly and my garage door opener is like new now. The instructions that came with it were a little off. Some steps were missing from the instructions, but with a little time spent staring at the inner workings of the garage door opener, and looking at the pictures on the instructions, I was able to figure it out easy enough. The job took me about 4 hours. There are a lot of screws and other little parts to keep track of. I fastened a strip of duct tape sticky side up on my work bench and stuck all the little parts on it and labeled them. I also used masking tape to label some of the wires that had to be disconnected. This made reassembly very easy. I would have gave 5 stars if the instructions were better.
Saved me big $$$$ February 22, 2010 James Saunders Thought I was going to have to buy a new opener. If your Sears opener is over ten years old and is not working properly you should buy this kit.
A "Tool-Time" project! February 21, 2010 Halibut (Manchester, WA USA) Like others who have reviewed this kit on Amazon, I had problems because I don't have a workbench, a vise, or the correct size punch. I bought a punch for a couple of bucks, improvised a workbench with a block of wood, and substituted vise-grip pliers for the vise. I had all the other necessary sockets and wrenches. Once I was past these problems, interpreting the directions raised it's head. It seems the kit will work with multiple models of openers, so they threw-in parts for all of them. The result is that when you're finished, you have new parts left over - - - I think!
In the end, it worked. But it wasn't easy.
