Very convenient July 21, 2010 Kathleen W. Waller (Stafford, VA USA) My purchase was to replace the identical opener. The previous one lasted several years and was very handy to have. I was very happy to discover the opener was still available and didn't consider a different opener.
Used as an exact replacment June 12, 2010 S. Sheftel I bought this as an exact replacement. The other only lasted a year : (
I took the path of least resistance to make the installation easy. Bought it from the same vendor on Amazon. I tried emailing the vendor to get a free replacement since it was less then a year old but never received a reply. Shame Shame . . .
Not Reliable - Replacing Batteries once a year or so would be easier than replacing this! June 3, 2010 Douglas Bracken What's the point of getting this over a wireless system or another brand? Read on to see that most of the reviews say the same thing - quits working and goes bad quickly. So unreliable that many have to replace this thing in less than a year? Most of us are hoping to avoid the hassle of replacing batteries once a year or to just have a sure way to get into your home without keys. But with this low quality design, (ovbiously a cash cow for Genie), it looks like you will have to replace the whole thing due to failure! At least with batteries, you can put a reminder in your schedule to change them once n a while so you don't get locked out! I wll look for an alternative. There really is no excuse for the Genie company - they could make this reliable - it's a choice.
Junk - do not buy this February 27, 2010 H. Brandt (New York) This is unreliable junk. After carefully installing in a sheltered location, the first one failed after 3 years, and the second one failed after 10 months. I'm giving up on Genie and buying a generic wireless keypad. This one isn't worth the money.
Simple and works great January 16, 2010 B. Christensen (Denver, CO USA) Very simple to install and program. What I like most is that it is wired so there are no codes to match or that may be scanned by criminals. Also since it is wired it will work with any garage door opener. This was installed at the mother-in-laws. We have one on our garage that has just plain done its job for the last 5 years with no issues. If in the event the keypad wears out it can be bought separately instead of having to buy a new unit like most.
