| Customer Reviews: a little diy saves $70 May 9, 2010 Mark K. Schumm (northwest OH USA) Great kit. Had all parts needed and average instructions. Had gotten quote for $90 to repair garage door opener, when I found this kit online and decided to try it myself. Spent a little over an hour installing new parts. Works like new.
Works like a charm. February 6, 2010 Aurore The only reason this did not get 4 stars is because the instructions were a little wonky. They did not match my particular model very well. However, the parts were a perfect fit! Once I put a little brain power into it, the garage door opener does work like a charm.
And thank you so much to the reviewers out there that warned that when the instructions say to grease liberally, they really mean it. That drive looked like a frosted cake when I was done with it, and it's been working and sounding perfectly.
Got What I Needed! March 22, 2009 A. Jones This universal kit came with all the necessary items to replace both worm and drive gear on my garage door opener. I have a early 90's chamberlin and everything seemed to go together well. It did not have all of the bushings for my opener. I reused one of the older bronze bushing/bearings. The key is thoroughly greasing the gears with the grease that is provided. Has been working for about 2 months now with moderate use.
Perfect part, Saved $$ April 28, 2008 G. Greenwald 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Perfect part for my worn-out gear. Saved the expense of buying a new garage door opener and labor to have it installed. Be sure you lube the gear GENEROUSLY. Friend of mine didn't use the grease (included) and had to replace the gear again in a few weeks.
